DepEd: 15.8 million learners enrolled so far for School Year 2024-2025


The Department of Education (DepEd) has recorded over 15.8 million enrollees for School Year (SY) 2024-2025, according to data released on Wednesday, July 24.

Based on the latest enrollment monitoring report from the Planning Service – Education Management Information System, obtained by the Manila Bulletin, there are 15,835,701 learners enrolled for the upcoming school year.

The number of enrollees includes those in public schools, private schools, State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs), and the Alternative Learning System (ALS) program.

Of the total number of enrollees, DepEd data showed 13,762,132 were enrolled in public schools, 1,905,343 in private schools, 16,740 in SUCs/LUCs, and 151,486 in the ALS.

DepEd data also showed that the highest number of enrollments is in Region IV-A, with 2,455,077 learners.

This is followed by Region III with 2,093,656 and the National Capital Region (NCR) with 1,953,196 enrollees.

The SY 2024-2025 will officially start on July 29 in public schools

Enrollment distribution

In the elementary level, the latest DepEd data showed that of the total number of enrollees at 8,511,834, there are 7,917,827 learners enrolled in public schools, 591,818 in private schools, and 2,189 in SUCs/LUCs.

In Junior High School, out of the total 4,883,162 enrollees, there were 4,271,570 students enrolled in public schools, 603,461 in private schools, and 8,131 in SUCs/LUCs.

In Senior High School, DepEd records showed that of the total 2,289,219 enrollees, there were 1,572,735 learners registered in public schools, 710,064 in private schools, and 6,420 in SUCs/LUCs.

Aside from Regions IV-A, III, and NCR, the number of enrollees per region is as follows: 838,429 (Region I), 650,160 (Region II), 341,678 (MIMAROPA), 1,017,713 (Region V), 1,218,733 (Region VI), 1,059,005 (Region VII), 634,425 (Region VIII), 598,611 (Region IX), 964,176 (Region X), 738,576 (Region XI), 548,568 (Region XII), 524,599 (CARAGA), 53,752 (BARMM), and 145,347 (CAR).

Enrollment in public schools started on July 3 and will end on July 26.

During an interview earlier this week, newly appointed Education Secretary Sonny Angara assured that preparations for the opening of the upcoming school year are ongoing.

“Tuloy po tayo (We will proceed),” Angara said, noting that a DepEd Order has been issued to ensure an orderly school opening.

Angara said the “Brigada Eskwela,” or the National Schools Maintenance Week, conducted from July 22 to 27, are among the ongoing preparations for the school opening.

Angara participated in his first “Brigada” as DepEd Chief at a public school in Quezon City on July 20.
