The Department of Education (DepEd) has announced that enrollment in public elementary and secondary schools for the upcoming school year will start next week.
Signed by Education Undersecretary Nolasco Mempin, DepEd issued Memorandum No. 32 series of 2024, or the Enrollment Guidelines for SY 2024-2025.
DepEd said the issuance aims to guide all public schools and community learning centers (CLCs) on the enrollment procedures and protocols for SY 2024-2025.
The SY 2024-2025 shall start on July 29, according to DepEd.

Related to this, the DepEd announced the conduct of enrollment in all public schools from July 3 to 26.
Enrollment options
As stated in DepEd’s guidelines, there are three options for enrollment in public elementary and secondary schools, including CLCs.
Learners and their parents or guardians can choose in-person enrollment; remote enrollment through short messaging services (SMS), any messaging applications, or email using the school’s official numbers, accounts, or email addresses; or dropbox enrollment located in schools and barangay halls near the schools.
DepEd noted that private schools, state/local universities and colleges (SUCs/LUCs), and Philippine Schools Overseas (PSOs) offering basic education may adopt their enrollment procedures consistent with their charters, school manuals, and applicable DepEd policies.
They shall report on or before July 22, 2024, DepEd said.
In the case of PSOs, DepEd noted that their official enrollment shall be submitted to the Private Education Office (PEO).
Requirements for enrollment
DepEd said that the Basic Education Enrollment Form should be required for all public elementary and secondary schools for incoming kindergarten, Grades 1, 7, and 11 enrollees and transferees while a confirmation slip shall be required for Grades 2 to 6, Grades 8 to 10, and Grade 12 enrollees to confirm their enrollment.
The modified alternative learning system enrollment form, on the other hand, shall be required for all ALS enrollees.
Meanwhile, DepEd noted that the documentary and eligibility requirements should remain in effect and be submitted by October 31, 2024.
DepEd reiterated that in the absence of a Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Birth Certificate, a Birth Certificate (late registration) from the local civil registrar or a barangay certification containing the basic information of the child may be submitted.
Moreover, authorities of public and private schools were also instructed to "strictly enforce and implement" the kindergarten cut-off age.
No collection policy
As in previous years, DepEd reminded the public that all public elementary and secondary schools need to strictly adhere to the No Collection Policy regarding authorized but voluntary fee collections.
“No payment collections shall be made as a prerequisite for the enrollment of learners, particularly in public schools,” DepEd said.
