“Preparations for the opening of classes are on schedule,” DepEd Undersecretary and Spokesperson Michael Poa told the Manila Bulletin in a Viber message.

Poa said that on July 3, DepEd will spearhead the annual “Oplan Balik Eskwela (OBE)” inter-agency coordination meeting. This, he explained, is to “ensure a smooth opening of classes, just as we did last year.”

The OBE is an annual initiative that engages agencies, organizations, and other stakeholders in preparation for the school opening of the new school year.

As announced by DepEd earlier, the first day of classes for the upcoming school year is scheduled for July 29.

Earlier, President Marcos appointed Senator Sonny Angara as the new DepEd Secretary effective on July 19, the last day for Duterte after she resigned from her post as Education Chief on June 19.
