- DepEd ordered the immediate removal of administrative tasks from public school teachers in an effort "to give support to teachers to teach better."
Following its directive to immediately remove administrative tasks from teachers, the Department of Education (DepEd) confirmed that manning the Early Registration desks in public schools would be left to non-teaching staff and personnel.

In a statement from the Office of the Undersecretary for Human Resource and Organizational Development (OUHROD) sent to the Manila Bulletin on Tuesday, Feb. 6, DepEd verified that “there's no need for the teachers to stay at the Registration Desks since their work is to encode.”
Encoding the data to the Learner Information System (LIS), DepEd added, can be done by teachers after the Early Registration period ends.
Moreover, DepEd also clarified the role of teachers in the Early Registration period.
Part of the class adviser's [teachers’] ancillary tasks, DepEd said, is to “manage learner's data.”
DepEd said this includes encoding information to the LIS or the national registry of all learners in basic Education.
LIS is an online facility that provides for the registration of learners enrolled in all schools run or licensed by the DepEd nationwide.
Meanwhile, DepEd noted that for other early registration activities that are “administrative in nature,” such as dissemination and retrieval of forms, checking of completeness, following up submission, and others, these shall be “performed by non-teaching personnel.”
As of Feb. 6, DepEd data showed that 1,701,793 learners have registered early for the incoming school year (SY) 2024-2025.
