Amid reports on reverting to the old school calendar, the Department of Education (DepEd) on Thursday, Jan. 18, said that the guidelines for the next school year are still being finalized.
“Let’s wait for the final DO [Department Order], we’re still finalizing,” DepEd Undersecretary and Spokesperson Michael Poa told the Manila Bulletin via Viber.
He added that DepEd will also “make an announcement” during the delivery of this year’s Basic Education Report (BER) this month. “We are just finalizing the DO,” he added.
The Teachers’ Dignity Coalition (TDC), in a statement, acknowledged DepEd’s “favorable response” to the clamor of teachers and the general public to revert the school calendar to the pre-pandemic system --- which means commencing the public school cycle in June and concluding it in March the following year.
