President Duterte announced that the fuel excise tax would have to stay as its proceeds were already allocated for government workers’ salaries and “Build, Build, Build” projects. But he also bared that Filipino families will be getting P200 weekly to help tide them through the recent fuel surge.
China explained that the alleged intrusion of one of its naval vessels in the Sulu Sea was just “innocent passage”, which has been contested by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) after it noted that the vessel had stayed in the area for three days.
Meanwhile the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has ordered its field offices nationwide to raise P2.4 trillion this year.
