Ph Army promotes peace through music

ILOILO CITY – The Philippine Army celebrated its 125th anniversary with a recent concert featuring the 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) band which put up a yeoman performance highlighting the role of music in promoting peace.

“Music is the universal language of mankind—in every corner of the globe. This is a call to everyone that peace is for all,” said Major General Benedict Arevalo, 3ID commander.

Dubbed as the “United in Music, One for Peace”, the concert featured the 3ID Band which performed at SM City Iloilo over the weekend.

The Army was joined in the program by the Police Regional Office (PRO-6) band, and local groups Lee Abapo, Manolito Saldivar, Kyla Pillie, D’ Idiots, and Slim Shadow.

Arevalo explained that the concert was a way of reaching out to the public.

This was also in line with the call of Lieutenant General Romeo Brawner, the country’s army chief, to have a more meaningful celebration instead of lavish affairs at army headquarters that only invited guests can attend.
