Presidential candidate and UniTeam member Bongbong Marcos had this to say Wednesday, March 16, after the topic of martial law was brought up during the Kapihan sa Manila Bay news forum.

"Martial law is necessary when there is war," said Marcos the son of former strongman President Ferdinand Marcos.

"So if we're not at war and I hope we won't get into a war, then there's no need to talk about martial law, to resort to martial law," the presidential survey frontrunner stressed.

A recent example of this scenario happened in Ukraine, when President Volodymyr Zelenskyy declared martial law across the entire country following Russia's invasion last February 24. The Russia-Ukraine wars continues to rage.

The younger Marcos had earlier said that he would avoid resorting to martial law if and when he becomes the Chief Executive.
