Wolfgang Zwiener, founder of Wolfgang's Steakhouse, dies at 85

His legacy has since grown to include over 40 locations worldwide, including the Philippines, where his influence continues to be felt.

Wolfgang Zwiener, the visionary founder of Wolfgang’s Steakhouse, passed away on Jan. 23 in Hawaii at the age of 85. The announcement was made today, January 27, on the official Facebook page of Wolfgang Steakhouse PH.

Zwiener, a veteran of the food and beverage industry with more than six decades of experience, opened the first Wolfgang’s Steakhouse on Park Avenue in New York City in 2004. His legacy has since grown to include over 40 locations worldwide, including the Philippines, where his influence continues to be felt.

Described as a man of humility, warmth, and kindness, Zwiener was celebrated not only as a businessman but also as a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Elena, and his sons, Steven and Peter.

“We send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Wolfgang Zwiener,” the Facebook post read. “His humility, warmth, and kindness will be deeply missed. More than a businessman, he was a devoted husband and father.”

The post also highlighted Zwiener’s far-reaching impact, stating, “Mr. Zwiener’s impact extended beyond his family, touching the lives of everyone he encountered, including us here in the Philippines. We will cherish the beautiful memories he leaves behind and strive to uphold his legacy of genuine hospitality in the F&B industry.”

Zwiener’s dedication to hospitality and his vision for excellence will continue to guide the growth of Wolfgang’s Steakhouse globally.
