Where to take Dad for a great meal
Steaks, omakase, comforting noodles and hidden gems make a compelling case for extending Father's Day all month long
Cru Steakhouse, Manila Marriott hotel
So, looking for places where to drag Dad for a Father’s Day celebration?
We know the men of the house. They can be such a chore to celebrate. I know my late father was. He would rather stay at home and be a spoil sport than fuss over his special day. Good thing we were always able to convince him to go out. In the end, he would enjoy the lunch or dinner anyway. It was his special day, after all.
And who says Father’s Day should end on June 21? Restaurants are keeping the festivities going throughout the month, making it easy to celebrate Dad whenever schedules permit.
• For the steak-loving dad: Fogo de Chão and Lusso
Some fathers are happiest with a good steak and a long lunch. Fogo de Chão is marking the occasion with its Signature Full Churrasco experience, featuring an endless parade of fire-roasted meats, Market Table favorites, dessert and drinks. Meanwhile, Lusso by Margarita Forés has welcomed diners back to its refreshed Greenbelt flagship with a Wagyu Steak Frites starring a 300-gram Japanese wagyu striploin paired with either Café de Paris or Béarnaise sauce. Elegant and unhurried, it is the kind of place where lunch easily turns into merienda.

• For the dad who loves a hotel buffet: Café Ilang-Ilang and Newport World Resorts
Hotel buffets remain a Father's Day staple for a reason. The Manila Hotel's Café Ilang-Ilang continues to be one of the city's most dependable destinations for international fare, while the Champagne Room offers a refined European set menu for those wanting something more intimate.
Over at Newport World Resorts, there is no shortage of choices. Casa Buenas serves its Hapag ni Itay set menu, while Yamazato at Hotel Okura Manila offers Japanese specialties ranging from obento kaiseki to premium wagyu. CRU Steakhouse at Manila Marriott remains a top choice for serious meat lovers, and Sheraton Manila's Oori Korean Restaurant has unlimited premium barbecue paired with cocktails.
Hilton Manila's Kusina Sea Kitchens also pulls out all the stops with butter-aged ribeye steak, lobster Thermidor and seafood paella. For dim sum-loving dads, Hua Yuan's elevated Yum Cha menu makes for a leisurely family affair.
• For the dad who deserves a splurge: City of Dreams Manila
If Father’s Day calls for something special, City of Dreams Manila has several reasons to linger. Crystal Dragon is serving festive dishes until June 30, including steamed lobster on egg white custard with aged Hua Diao and crispy suckling pig with goose liver and glutinous rice. Nobu Manila, meanwhile, continues to offer its seven-course Manila Omakase through June 28. There are also staycation packages at Nuwa Manila, Nobu Hotel and Hyatt Regency Manila for families who prefer to turn Father's Day into a mini holiday.

• For the dad who just wants comfort food: Tiong Bahru Singapore Flavours
Not every dad wants wagyu and white tablecloths. Sometimes all he wants is a comforting bowl of bak kut teh or a plate of Hainanese chicken rice. Tiong Bahru Singapore Flavours has built a loyal following thanks to its faithful take on Singaporean classics, including laksa and hawker-style noodle dishes. With 16 branches nationwide, it is an easy option for families looking for familiar flavors without the fuss.
• For the adventurous dad: Underbelly
Maybe Dad is the type who enjoys trying something new. The Underbelly's limited Dishkarte Series, available only until June 22, offers exactly that. Chefs Jackson Chua and Noel Mauricio bring together Filipino and Japanese flavors in playful dishes like Sinigang Billy, Sobrang Soba and Miso Champ. It is youthful, irreverent and a refreshing change from the usual Father's Day steakhouse.
• For the dad who appreciates something truly special: Bakuran Tasting Club
Hidden behind an unassuming facade in Project 8, Quezon City, Bakuran Tasting Club offers one of Metro Manila's most compelling new dining experiences. Chef Lee Jan Anicas' “Asim: A Study on Balance” explores the many expressions of Filipino sourness through dishes such as Sipit Pomelo, Kordero Kamatis and Pato Gumamela.
Served around a stone tasting table in a dining room inspired by homes in Mindoro and Vigan, the experience feels less like dining out and more like being welcomed into someone's home. Warm hospitality is as much a part of the experience as the food itself.

• For the dad who enjoys the finer things: Conrad Manila
Conrad Manila is celebrating both Father's Day and its 10th anniversary with a series of dining experiences across its signature outlets. Brasserie on 3 is offering a generous buffet, with fathers dining free for every four paying guests. For larger family gatherings, China Blue by Jereme Leung presents a lavish lauriat menu for 10, featuring roasted golden duck, braised abalone, lobster tropical mixed fruit salad and premium beef. Meanwhile, C Lounge is pouring 10 signature cocktails inspired by Manila Bay, making sunset drinks with Dad all the more memorable. Those with a sweet tooth can also pick up cakes and pastries from Bru Coffee Bar.
• For the dad who likes a little bit of everything: Lanson Place Mall of Asia
Lanson Place Mall of Asia's Cyan Modern Kitchen combines a generous buffet with a few thoughtful touches for Father's Day. Dad's Beer and Bites features roast beef sirloin, baked salmon fillet, barbecue pork baby back ribs, sliders and a spread of international favorites, accompanied by free-flowing beer, wine and cocktails. What makes the celebration stand out is the Signature Perfume Bar, where fathers can choose their own signature scent and take home a personalized bottle as a keepsake from the occasion.
Because if there is one thing fathers rarely admit, it is that they enjoy being spoiled too. Sometimes, all it takes is getting them out the door.
