Pasig LGU sends rescue unit to assist in collapsed Pampanga building

The Pasig City government on Sunday, May 24, deployed 15 personnel to assist in search and rescue operations following the collapse of an under-construction nine-storey concrete building in Angeles City, Pampanga.

It said the personnel were composed of members from its Fire and Rescue Unit and Pasig Emergency. The deployment was coordinated with the Incident Management Team (IMT), led by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
Around 5 p.m., representatives of the city government checked in as part of the IMT.
Deployed personnel were part of the Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team and were assigned to locate victims of the collapsed under-construction building in Barangay Balibago.

They also brought various search and rescue tools and equipment, including life detectors and breaching equipment, along with other gear carried by logistics vehicles, rescue trucks, and ambulances.
Based on the initial report, the nine-storey building being constructed collapsed and buried the foreman, who was among those initially rescued and said there were at least 30 more workers missing.

As of 7 p.m., the BFP Central Luzon said rescuers have retrieved the body of a Malaysian national from a nearby hotel that was damaged by the collapse of the nine-storey building.
