MMDA sends K9 units, equipment for search, rescue ops in collapsed Pampanga building

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) sent personnel and resources to assist in the search and rescue efforts for construction workers who were believed to have been trapped under the building that collapsed in Angeles City, Pampanga.
MMDA General Manager Don Artes said the search and rescue team immediately arrived at the construction site and started coordination with local authorities for the search and rescue operations.
Among those sent were K9 units and other equipment that include locator devices, power tools and rescue cameras.
Based on the initial report, the nine-storey building being constructed collapsed and buried the foreman, who was among those initially rescued, said there were at least 30 more workers missing.
Artes said the instruction to MMDA personnel was to ensure the fast conduct of rescue operations as he noted the necessity of quick response.
He said a mobile command center will be set up in the area.
