“Saludo ako sa tibay ng puso at lakas na binuhos ninyo para magtapos na siya ring magbubukas ng bagong pagkakataon para lalong mapagtibay ang inyong hinaharap (I salute the strength of heart and effort you have put in to finish, which will also open up new opportunities to further strengthen your future),” Duterte said in her graduation message for high school students send to the Manila Bulletin on Thursday, May 30.

Based on DepEd Memorandum No. 23 s. of 2024, DepEd said the End-of-School-Year (EOSY) rites for the current school year shall be conducted from May 29 to 31.

“Naniniwala ako na ang pagbabago at kinabukasan ng ating bayan ay nasa kamay ninyo (I believe that the change and future of our nation are in your hands),” Duterte said.

Duterte also reminded the graduates that their efforts to become good citizens, to be useful, and admirable, are already a “significant contribution” to their respective communities.

Meanwhile, Duterte also told graduates at the elementary level in a separate message that their graduation is an “important step” in reaching their dreams.

“Ngunit, umpisa pa lamang ito ng malayo pa ninyong lalakbayin (However, this is just the beginning of the long journey ahead of you),” Duterte said.

“Alam ko na ang kaalaman at aral na natutunan ninyo sa elementarya ay tiyak na magiging susi sa inyong tagumpay sa hinaharap (I know that the knowledge and lessons you have learned in elementary school will surely be the key to your success in the future),” she added.

In its memorandum on the conduct of this year’s EOSY rites, DepEd reiterated that graduation and moving-up ceremonies should be “simple but meaningful.”

While these rites mark a milestone in the lives of the learners, DepEd stressed that graduation and moving-up ceremonies should be conducted “without excessive spending, extravagant attire, or extraordinary venues.”

DepEd also warned that no personnel shall be allowed to “collect any kind of contribution or fee” for the graduation and moving-up ceremonies.

The theme for SY 2023-2024 EOSY rites shall be “Kabataang Pilipino Para sa Matatag na Kinabukasan ng Bagong Pilipinas.”

“This theme highlights the pivotal role of education in shaping Filipino youth as the vanguards in building a stronger and progressive nation,” DepEd said.
