‘Queen of Tears’ episode 10 breaks own ratings record anew; gets 21% in Korea’s metropolitan area


There’s no stopping the Korean drama “Queen of Tears” from continuing to break its own ratings record.  

“Queen of Tears,” starring Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won, posted its highest ratings again to date. 

According to Nielsen Korea, episode 10 of “Queen of Tears” on Korean cable TV channel tvN on April 7 garnered a nationwide rating of 18.952 percent (peaking at 20.6 percent) in South Korea, its highest rating to date. It was watched by 4.74 million people.

This is the highest rating among all shows on April 7 on terrestrial, comprehensive and paid platforms including cable in South Korea. 

In the metropolitan area (Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggi), “Queen of Tears” episode 10 got a rating of 20.926 percent (peaking at 22.7 percent), the first time that the drama breached the 20-percent mark. It was watched by 2.5 million people. 

Korean media outlet MBC News reported that with the latest numbers, “Queen of Tears” broke its own highest viewer ratings for five consecutive weeks in both the metropolitan area and nationwide households, and ranked first in the same time slots on all channels, including terrestrial. 

Among the coveted target audience of 20 to 49 age group, “Queen of Tears” episode 10 got a rating of 8.4 percent (peaking at 9 percent) nationwide in South Korea, and 8.3 percent (peaking at 9 percent) in the metropolitan area. 

In “Queen of Tears,” Kim Soo-hyun and actress Kim Ji-won play the roles of couple Baek Hyun-woo and Hong Hae-in who are experiencing marital problems.
