‘Queen of Tears’ posts highest rating anew; Song Joong-ki appears in episode 8 


The Korean drama “Queen of Tears” broke its own ratings record with the airing of episode 8 on March 31. 

“Queen of Tears” stars Kim Soo-hyun and actress Kim Ji-won, who play couple Baek Hyun-woo and Hong Hae-in experiencing marital problems. 

In episode 8, Hong Hae-in told Kim Ji-won that she wanted a divorce. Song Joong-ki made a cameo by playing the role of Hong Hae-in’s lawyer Vincenzo. Song Joong-ki starred in the 2021 tvN drama “Vincenzo.”

According to Nielsen Korea, episode 8 of “Queen of Tears” on March 31 garnered a nationwide rating of 16.143 percent, the drama’s highest to date. It was watched by 4.04 million people in South Korea. 

This is higher by 3.31 percentage points compared to the 12.833 percent rating it got for episode 7 on March 30. 

It maintained its No. 1 position among programs that aired on paid platforms including cable, IPTV, and satellite in South Korea. 

The episode 8 rating eclipsed the 14.068 percent “Queen of Tears” received for episode 6 on March 24, which was its highest at the time. 

In the metropolitan area (Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggi), “Queen of Tears” episode 8 garnered a rating of 17.886 percent, also its highest to date. It was watched by 2 million people in the metropolitan area.  

It surpassed the 15.225 percent metropolitan area rating it got for episode 6.
