DepEd remains most trusted gov’t agency in Q1 2024 — survey

It also emerges as ‘best-performing’ organization

The Department of Education (DepEd) continues to be the country’s most trusted government agency, based on the results of an OCTA Research survey conducted in the first quarter of 2024.

The survey results released on Wednesday, April 17 revealed that Deped is trusted by 82 percent of Filipinos.

The department was also named the most trusted government agency in the previous OCTA survey conducted in the fourth quarter of 2023.

In the latest poll, DepEd's trust ratings ranged between 74 and 94 percent across major geographical areas.

“Adult Filipinos who trust the Department of Education are highest in Mindanao (94 percent) and lowest in Metro Manila (74 percent),” OCTA said.

The March 2024 survey also revealed “high” trust ratings for three other government agencies.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) received a 79 percent trust rating, followed by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) with 73 percent and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) with 71 percent.

Meanwhile, the agencies that got trust ratings lower than 50 percent were the Department of Energy (DOE) with 49 percent, Department of Transportation (DOTr) with 45 percent, Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) with 42 percent, Department of Budget and Management (DBM) with 41 percent, Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) with 40 percent, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) with 39 percent, and the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) with 36 percent.

Performance rating

With an 84 percent rating, DepEd is also rated as the "best-performing" government agency in the first quarter of 2024.

DSWD was previously ranked as the best-performing agency in the fourth quarter of 2023.

OCTA said DepEd’s performance ratings ranged from 78 to 95 percent in major areas in the latest survey results.

“Adult Filipinos who are satisfied with the performance of DepEd is highest in Mindanao (95 percent), followed by Visayas (88 percent). Meanwhile, the lowest performance rating is observed in both the National Capital Region and Balance Luzon (78 percent),” it pointed out.

Other government agencies with high performance ratings included Department of Health (80 percent), DSWD (77 percent), CHED (73 percent), and DPWH (72 percent).

Meanwhile, four agencies received performance ratings of less than 40 percent: DTI (38 percent), DICT (38 percent), DBM (37 percent), and DHSUD (33 percent).

OCTA's "Tugon ng Masa" survey, which had 1,200 respondents nationwide, was conducted from March 11 to 14.
