DepEd is most trusted government agency, survey says

The Department of Education (DepEd) emerged as the most trusted government agency in the December 2023 survey conducted by the OCTA Research.

The “Fourth Quarter Tugon ng Masa Survey,” which took place from Dec. 10 to 14, revealed that DepEd had the highest trust rating at 84 percent.

Other agencies that rated “high” in the trust survey are the Commission on Higher Education (83 percent), Department of Social Welfare and Development (82 percent), Department of Health (80 percent), and Department of Public Works and Highways (75 percent).

“Generally, government agencies received high trust ratings in Visayas and Mindanao, whereas low trust ratings were reported in Balance Luzon. This pattern was observed in the October survey,” OCTA said in its report released on Thursday, Feb. 22.

Meanwhile, the Department of Transportation (19 percent), the Department of Trade and Industry (16 percent), and the Commission on Higher Education (13 percent) received the highest "distrust" ratings.

The survey was fielded through face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adult respondents nationwide.

It has a ±3 percent margin of error at a 95 percent confidence level, with subnational estimates for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao at a ±6 percent margin of error.
