These areas include NAIA in Pasay City (42°C), Dagupan City, Pangasinan (43°C), MMSU, Batac, Ilocos Norte (42°C), Aparri, Cagayan (42°C), Puerto Princesa City, Palawan (42°C), Aborlan, Palawan (42°C), Iloilo City, Iloilo (42°C), Dumagas, Iloilo (42°C), Catarman, Northern Samar (43°C), and Butuan City, Agusan Del Norte (42°C).
The heat index, PAGASA said, is a gauge of perceived heat accounting for the actual air temperature and relative humidity.
PAGASA explained that a heat index ranging from 42°C to 51°C is considered “dangerous.”
Heat cramps and heat exhaustion are likely when heat indices reach the danger level, PAGASA said. Moreover, heatstroke is also probable with continued exposure.
To avoid heat-related illnesses, PAGASA advised the public to limit time spent outdoors, drink plenty of water (avoiding tea, coffee, soda, and liquor), use umbrellas, hats, and sleeved clothing outdoors, and schedule heavy-duty activities for the beginning or end of the day when it is cooler.
