In PAGASA’s latest public forecast on Friday, March 29, weather specialist Rhea Torres said that most parts of the country will continue to experience high temperatures with isolated rain showers in the latter part of the day.

“Sa Luzon, asahan po natin yung mataas na temperatura ngayong araw, lalong-lalo na pagdating ng hapon (In Luzon, we can expect high temperatures today, especially in the afternoon),” Torres said.

Torres explained that the maximum temperatures for Metro Manila, as well as Tuguegarao, could reach 34°C. High temperatures are also expected in the Visayas and Mindanao regions.

PAGASA’s weather forecast also showed that Metro Manila and the rest of the country will continue to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms brought by the easterlies or localized thunderstorms.

Easterlies to affect the eastern section of PH

“Based sa ating latest satellite image, wala naman tayong namamataan na makakapal ba kaulapan na posibleng magdala ng magahapon na pag-ulan sa anumang bahagi ng bansa (Based on our latest satellite image, we're not observing any thick cloud cover that could potentially bring afternoon rain to any part of the country),” Torres said.

She explained that the effects of easterlies or the warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean currently persist and are affecting the country's eastern part. With this, thunderstorms are also expected to become frequent.

Aside from the effect of the easterlies, Torres said fair weather will continue except for isolated rain showers.

“Walang din mino-monitor o binabantayan na low pressure area o bagyo sa loob at labas ng Philippine Area of Responsibility (No low pressure area or storm is being monitored or observed inside or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility),” she added.

3-day weather outlook

Based on its weather outlook from March 30 to April 1, PAGASA said the maximum temperatures in Metro Manila would range from 34°C to 35°C; 26°C to 27°C in Baguio City; 31°C to 32°C in Legazpi City; 32°C to 33°C in Metro Cebu and Iloilo City; 31°C to 32°C in Tacloban City; 34°C to 35°C in Metro Davao and Zamboanga City; and 32°C to 33°C in Cagayan De Oro City.

As high temperatures are expected in large parts of the country in the coming days, PAGASA reminded the public to avoid outdoor activities as much as possible and stay hydrated to prevent illnesses brought about by the hot weather.
