The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) identified six areas where the heat index reached "dangerous" levels on Saturday, March 30.
In its monitoring as of 5 p.m., these areas recorded dangerous heat indices:
- NAIA in Pasay City (42°C)
- Dagupan City, Pangasinan (44°C)
- MMSU, Batac, Ilocos Norte (42°C)
- Aparri, Cagayan (42°C)
- Iloilo City, Iloilo (42°C)
- Catarman, Northern Samar (43°C)
PAGASA stated that heat indices ranging from 42°C to 51°C are considered within the 'danger' level.
The heat index is a gauge of perceived heat, accounting for the actual air temperature and relative humidity, according to PAGASA.
Individuals exposed to extreme heat conditions may experience exhaustion or fatigue, dizziness and lightheadedness, and blacking out or feeling dizzy when standing. They may also show symptoms such as weak but fast pulse, nausea, and vomiting.
