Actor Kim Soo-hyun, 36, star of the hit Korean drama “Queen of Tears,” denied that he is dating actress Kim Sae-ron, 23, who uploaded a photo of them on Instagram on March 24.
The photo showed Kim Sae-ron and Kim Soo-hyun posing cheek to cheek, which sparked speculations that they are dating or in a romantic relationship. She immediately deleted the photo.

Kim Sae-ron is currently on hiatus after she was found guilty of drunk driving by the Seoul Central District Court in April last year and fined her 20 million won (about $14,900).
The case stemmed from an incident on May 18, 2022 when a drunk Kim Sae-ron was driving in Cheongdam, Gangnam in Seoul. She crashed her car and hit a guardrail, tree and a transformer. When she hit the transformer, it caused a power outage affecting 57 business establishments in the area for three hours.
Kim Soo-hyun, through his agency, Gold Medalist, issued a statement on March 24 to deny that the two are in a relationship.
Kim Sae-ron was a former talent under Gold Medalist from 2020 to 2022. Her contract with the agency expired in December 2022 and was not renewed.
“We would like to inform you of our official position regarding the distribution of Kim Soo-hyun's photo today,” Gold Medalist said in a statement issued to Korean media.
It said the photo of Kim Sae-ron and Kim Soo-hyun appeared to have been taken when Kim Sae-ron was still under Gold Medalist.
“We would like to inform you that Kim Soo-hyun's dating rumors are unfounded. The photos that are spread online appear to have been taken when they were in the same agency in the past, and the intention of Kim Sae-ron's actions is unknown,” Gold Medalist added.
It said, “The photo is causing unnecessary misunderstandings and speculations about the actor.”
The agency warned, “We will respond strongly through our legal representative, a law firm, to malicious slander and insulting posts that undermine the character and reputation of the actor. In relation to this, we ask that you refrain from posting unfounded rumors or speculative posts.”
Kim Sae-ron is getting criticism for uploading the photo in the midst of the airing of “Queen of Tears,” in which Kim Soo-hyun and actress Kim Ji-won play the role of a married couple experiencing problems.
After the photo was uploaded, a close associate of Kim Sae-ron and Kim Soo-hyun denied they are dating.
