Duterte encourages support for students affected by viral TikTok teacher's scolding
While they were not shown in the viral TikTok video of the angry teacher, students affected by her scolding may seek support, the Department of Education (DepEd) said.

“Meron naman tayong psychosocial support sa ating mga guro (We have psychosocial support available from our teachers),” Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte said in an interview during her visit to Cambodia on Thursday. March 21.
Duterte was referring to the students of a public school teacher who went viral because of a TikTok video showing her getting angry while holding a class.
In the now-viral video, the teacher lashes at her students using harsh words.

DepEd, for its part, immediately called the attention of the concerned regional office and issued a show-cause order for the public school teacher.
Duterte said that upon seeing the teacher’s explanation, the agency deemed there was no need to penalize or sanction her.
Despite the “no penalty” order for the teacher, Duterte said that affected students may seek assistance from the concerned school.

“We have teachers that are trained for stress debriefing lalo na sa ating mga lugar na prone sa kalamidad (especially in our disaster-prone areas),” Duterte said.
“Pwede nilang gawin ito kung may bata man na nagpakita ng pagkabalisa o stress dahil sa kanya (They can do this if a child shows signs of anxiety or stress because of her),” she added.
In a separate statement, a teachers’ group welcomed DepEd’s decision not to penalize the teacher in the viral video.

While it welcomed DepEd’s recent decision, the group continued to call for “concrete” policies that would protect teachers in similar situations or incidents --- especially involving discipline and students in schools.
