PLDT drew strength on Savannah Davison as it trounced Capital1, 25-13, 25-15, 25-16, in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference on Saturday, March 9, at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.
Davison exploded at the attack line by unloading 19 kills to finish with 22 points as the High Speed Hitters bounced back from a three-set defeat to the Petro Gazz Angels last week.
The win hiked PLDT’s win-loss tally to 3-1 to remain in the middle of the pack.
Fiola Ceballos poured all her 10 points on attacks for the High Speed Hitters, who needed 76 minutes in disposing of the Solar Spikers.
Aside from outspiking Capital1, 47-27, PLDT also exposed its rival’s lackluster defense as the Solar Spikers also managed one block against 44 attempts.
Veteran setter Rhea Dimaculangan powered the High Speed Hitters’ offense by converting 12 of the team’s 21 excellent sets on top of two points, while Erika Santos and Dell Palomata conspired for 11 points.
Capital1, which was coming off a four-set win over Strong Group Athletics last Tuesday, March 5, failed to sustain its momentum with no players scoring more than seven points.
Sydney Niegos and Heather Guino-o were held to six points apiece as the Sola Spikers fell to 1-3.
