The FiberXers went on a hot 10-2 run bridging the last two quarters before Stockton took over and scored seven of the team’s last nine points to finally put the hard-fighting Elasto Painters away.
Converge seems to be on a roll as it has now strung together three straight victories to improve to a 4-2 record while snapping ROS’ two-game streak for an even 2-2 slate.
Stockton fired 24 points – 19 of which he poured in the second half while Schonny Winston was equally impressive, scoring the same output as his backcourt partner.
The Converge twin towers were also a key difference as they pounced on the depleted ROS frontline that was without Beau Belga and Caelan Tiongson.
Justin Arana had a huge double-double of 18 points and 17 rebounds to go with six assists while Justine Baltazar had 13 points and 22 rebounds.
Utilizing its speed advantage, ROS actually dictated the tempo in the early goings of the contest but Converge managed to catch up and use its size to its full advantage.
The FiberXers pulled away from a tight 78-76 count late in the third frame to wrest an 88-78 advantage early in the fourth. Even with Converge gaining control though, ROS did not easily wave the white flag and remained within striking distance, 96-90, heading into the final three minutes.
That was when Stockton, however, took over and made sure to fend off Rain or Shine until the final horn.
Fresh off a Player of the Week citation, Leonard Santillan continued to hold the fort with 26 points and six rebounds while Gian Mamuyac added 25 in a losing effort
