De La Salle University has no plans of slowing down after beating University of Santo Tomas for a twice-to-beat advantage in the semifinals of the UAAP Season 87 women's volleyball.

The Lady Spikers have finally taken the semis bonus via a 23-25, 25-20, 30-28, 29-27 victory over the Golden Tigresses in their battle for No. 2 spot Wednesday, April 30, at Mall of Asia Arena.
Shevana Laput, who scored 22 points, said they will never waste the incentive they had earned and will instead play a notch higher in the Final Four which begins Saturday, May 3.
“This playoff was such a big opportunity for us, despite what had happened in the elimination round, we were given this play-off chance, we are not going to throw in this shot,” said Laput.
“We fought for this. We definitely put our hearts out, everything out, because we know we need this twice-to-beat [advantage],” she added. “This is our best opportunity, of course I’m super proud of all of us, we all contributed to this win.”
The Taft-based squad maximized its height advantage with its wall of defense, listing 20 blocks compared to UST’s eight. Amie Provido (5), Canino (4), and Lilay del Castillo (4) all provided the towering presence at the net to neutralize their big-hitting rivals.
“With this new team, we know that we can always go ahead, and this is just a confidence booster, it shows that we are capable,” Laput continued.
“Alam namin na hindi ganun ‘yong performance na kaya namin, at ngayon nailabas namin kailangan lang naming ipagpatuloy,” Provido echoed.
