Kurasu Kyoto, a Japanese specialty café and roastery, partners with homegrown coffee shop Niseko

There is no denying that Filipinos are big fans of Japanese cuisine. Whether the climate is warm or cold, we love a comforting bowl of ramen. Tempura and sushi always have a special spot on our plates. Whenever we want something to satisfy our sweet craving, mochi does the trick. But when it comes to brewed drinks, among the top flavors Pinoys want is matcha. And if you’re looking to experience an authentic Japanese matcha latte mix, better remember this café during your next coffee run.

Located in Greenhills, San Juan City, Niseko Coffee brings a piece of Japan to the Philippines with its minimalist stores and special brews. Established during the pandemic, the coffee shop became a stand-out for merging Japanese-style brewing with locally sourced coffee beans. This time, it serves its take on matcha latte with the help of Japan’s specialty café and roastery, Kurasu Kyoto.

“We're proud to be partnering with Niseko Coffee in Manila, Philippines,” Kurasu Kyoto announced on social media. “The amazing Niseko Coffee team has been serving delicious matcha lattes using our Okumidori matcha and we're grateful to them for sharing a taste of Kyoto with their customers in Manila.”

Established in June 2013 in Australia by Yozo Otsuki, Kurasu Kyoto was first a homeware store providing Japanese items before it became a full-blown coffee brand in 2015 and opened a physical store in Kyoto in 2016. Today, it is present in other countries with branches in Singapore and Bangkok.

“Quality is the priority when it comes to our products, so for our new product, Matcha Latte, we’ve chosen Kurasu’s Okumidori matcha powder whose premium taste blends perfectly well with milk,” Diane Uy, owner of Niseko Coffee, told Kurasu Kyoto. “You know you’re drinking premium matcha when you have a taste of Okumidori. It’s rich and well-balanced with a smooth finish. No bitter aftertaste.”

Niseko Coffee’s Matcha Latte and Sakura Matcha Latte are now available for dine-in, pickup, and delivery. Visit @nisekocoffeeph on Instagram or its store in Greenhills Promenade Mall to know more.
