DPWH improves road accessibility in Bataan to support local farmers


A 542.6-linear meter road in Hermosa, Bataan has been completed and is now ready to serve local farmers easing the mobility of their goods and local products, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced on Tuesday, Dec. 6.

Bataan 1st District Engineer Erlindo R. Flores, Jr. said the concreting project with P4.9 million funding under the supervision of DPWH 1st District Engineering Office (DEO).

Flores disclosed that the implementation of the P4.9 million road improvement project is in support of small farmers and agricultural businesses, giving them safer and better access to local markets.

Located at the remote barangay of Maite in Hermosa town, the new road served as the component route of mobilization towards nearby financial centers in the province, according to the official.

“Barangay Maite is an area of high agricultural productivity; however, there remains a need to improve rural road facilities that play a key role in improving agricultural production and farmer’s income,” Flores said.

Flores also welcomed the initiative of DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan in employing programs to support local farmers and improve rural-urban interconnections, specifically in the province of Bataan.
