ICYMI: The Matcha Tokyo is now in Manila

Can’t get enough of matcha?

It is an understatement to say that Filipinos are big fans of Japanese eats. From delectable wagyu beef and takoyaki to truly comforting ramen, we always have a space on our table for any Japanese food. But when it comes to drinks, dominating Filipinos' list are the matcha-infused ones. If you’re among those who are big fans of the lovely green beverage, you’re in luck as a new spot opens in Manila serving nothing but 100 percent organic matcha.

Located at the newly opened Japanese-inspired mall in Taguig, Mitsukoshi BGC, is The Matcha Tokyo. Established in 2018, the cafe is known for its high-quality organic matcha and its sustainable practices. Soon enough, it branched out to other Asian countries, opening stores in Hong Kong and China, and now, in the Philippines.

Its store in BGC features its signature blends—the Japan Premium, Matcha Salted Cream Latte, and Iced Matcha Latte. The cafe also offers some of its matcha-flavored snacks like the Vanilla Madeleines with Matcha Chocolate, Green Tea Dorayaki, and its Vegan White Chocolate Matcha. To mark its coming in the Philippines, the brand is also serving a drink with a Filipino twist, the Matcha Ube Latte, a 100 percent organic matcha latte finished with an ube cream foam.

The Matcha Tokyo PH is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily and is located on the ground floor of Mitsukoshi BGC.
