DOLE offers training courses to address mental health concerns in workplaces

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has developed a training course to address anxiety and other mental health concerns in workplaces.

The Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC), an attached agency to DOLE will be holding a two-day face-to-face training course on "Workplace Mental Health" on Oct. 26 to 27, and Nov. 23 to 24, this year.

This is in response to the increasing concerns about mental health in establishments and to implement the workplace provisions of the Republic Act 11036 or the "Mental Health Act".

“Mental health is a pervasive problem that transcends geographic or socio-economic boundaries. Most of those having mental health issues are workers that affect their lives and productivity,” said OSCH in a statement.

According to OSCH, the training course follows Department Order 208-20, or the "Guidelines for the Implementation of Mental Health Workplace Policies and Programs in the Private Sector", which require private companies to craft mental health policies and programs in their respective establishments.

In an advisory, the OSCH urged all private companies to take advantage of the two rounds of discussion in October and November at OSHC Ichikawa Hall in North Avenue corner Agham Road, Diliman, Quezon City.

Interested participants of the training course can register at https://tinyurl.com/HCDF2FTrainingRegForm or may call +63 945 867-6678 or send an email to [email protected].

At least two representatives per company were allowed to participate in the training for a fee of P1,400 per attendee with free training materials and meals for the two-day training.
