Caraga police ready security for summer tourists
BUTUAN CITY — The Police Regional Office-Caraga (PRO-13) has developed a security plan to ensure the safety of tourists visiting the region during the summer vacation.

At least 1,682 personnel will be deployed to secure destinations while 77 assistance desks will be established at various strategic points in the region to provide security and assistance to commuters and tourists.
PRO-13 will implement mandatory security checks.
“Aside from the number of police personnel, we will also receive support from the other security sector in the region and force multipliers in the cities and municipalities,” PRO-13 information office chief Police Major Jennifer Omiter said in an interview Tuesday.
She added that coordination is underway with the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Coast Guard, and local government units for unified efforts to keep the region safe and secure during the peak tourist season, which include the Holy Week on April 13 to 19 and festivals.
PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano said their top priority is to prevent crime in communities and in key places of convergence, such as transport terminals and tourist sites.
“As we carry out our duty to safeguard the communities, we also appeal to the public to be vigilant and cooperate with the safety measures undertaken by the PNP,” Abrahano said in a news release Monday.
He encouraged the public to immediately report any suspicious persons or activities to authorities.
