There is no tropical cyclone or low pressure being monitored inside or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), state weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration reported on Tuesday, April 1.
“Wala tayong mino-monitor na bagyo o low-pressure area dito sa loob at labas ng ating Philippine Area of Responsibility or anumang may direktang epekto dito sa ating bansa (We are not monitoring any storm or low-pressure area inside or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, or anything that would have a direct effect on our country),” PAGASA weather specialist Chenel Dominguez said.
PAGASA said the easterlies, or warm and humid winds from the Pacific Ocean, continue to affect the country.
“Sa ngayon, patuloy ang pag-iral nitong Easterlies or ’yung mainit at maalinsangan na hangin na nanggagaling sa dagat pasipiko dito sa buong bansa natin (As of now, the easterlies, or the warm and humid winds coming from the Pacific Ocean, continue to prevail across the entire country),” she added.
According to the state weather bureau, cloudy skies with light rain are expected in Batanes and Babuyan Islands due to the northeasterly wind flow.
Meanwhile, hot and humid weather is likely over the rest of Luzon, including Metro Manila, especially during noon and afternoon, with chances of isolated rain showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon or evening.
“Para naman dito sa nalalabing bahagi ng Luzon, inaasahan natin ang mainit at maalinsangan na tanghali hanggang hapon na may tyansa ng isolated rain showers or mga pandaliang pag-ulan dulot ng localized thunderstorms lalo na sa hapon at gabi (As for the rest of Luzon, we expect hot and humid weather from noon until afternoon, with chances of isolated rain showers or brief rainfall due to localized thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon and evening),” said Dominguez.
PAGASA said the same weather conditions are expected in Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao, with higher chances of localized thunderstorms, especially in the Visayas and Mindanao.
“Gayundin, dito sa may Palawan, Visayas, at Mindanao, inaasahan din po natin ang mainit at maalinsangan na panahon pero mataas ang tyansa ng mga localized thunderstorms lalo na po dito sa may Kabisayaan at Mindanao (Likewise, in Palawan, the Visayas, and Mindanao, we also expect hot and humid weather, but there is a high chance of localized thunderstorms, especially in the Visayas and Mindanao),” the weather specialist said.
Dominguez warned residents to be alert for flash floods and landslides that may be triggered by localized thunderstorms.
The agency said no gale warning is currently in effect over any of the country’s seaboards.
