Congressman Brian Raymund Yamsuan is bent on learning about the needs and grievances of the residents of Paranaque City’s 2nd district.

Yamsuan is doing so through a house-to-house campaign, as he begins to woo district folk ahead of the May 12 mid-term elections.

He says the house-to-house campaign isn't simply about "to shake hands with people and wave at them", but to "find out what programs still need to be implemented to solve the problems in their respective communities".

Yamsuan, a former Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) assistant secretary, is currently Bicol Saro Party-list representative. He is eyeing the 2nd district congressional seat of Parañaque in the upcoming polls.

Yamsuan, along vice mayoral bet Benjo Bernabe and candidates for the councilor Binky Favis and Tess De Asis, comprise the so-called Team Pagasa or Team Hope.

The team’s platform centers on Yamsuan’s H.O.P.E. agenda, which stands for Health, Opportunities, Peace and order, and Education.

This reform agenda aims to ensure that Parañaque’s 2nd district residents are:  1) provided quality and affordable Health and medical care; 2) equipped with adequate job and livelihood Opportunities to elevate their living standards; 3) assured of Peace and safety in their communities; and 4) guaranteed access to quality Education.

Yamsuan said despite his team's solid platform, directly talking with people at the grassroots level would allow them to finetune their community-based approach.

“Napakaimportanteng malaman direkta sa mga kapwa namin taga-district 2 na hindi karaniwang naririnig ang boses pagdating sa mga pagpapasya ng  pamahalaan kung ano pa ang mga pagkukulang at mga dapat pang gawin para makita at madama nila ang mga programa ng gobyerno,” he explained.

(It is very important that we directly find out from our fellow district 2 residents who usually do not have a voice in the government’s decision-making process what are the shortcomings and what more needs to be done to enable them to see and feel the programs of the government.)

Prior to launching the house-to-house campaign last March 28, Team Pagasa attended mass at Barangay BF Homes' Resurrection of Our Lady Parish.

Team Pagasa capped off the first day of the local campaign period with a massive kick-off rally attended by thousands of supporters at the Zilog, Masville grounds in the same barangay.

Yamsuan has been a resident of Barangay BF Homes in the city's 2nd district for over two decades.
