U2 new track 'Your Song Saved My Life,' others to appear on 'Sing 2'

The music of U2 will figure heavily on the upcoming animated movie “Sing 2.” The film will also feature band vocalist Bono as the voice of Clay Calloway, “a reclusive, rock and roll-singing lion.”

The piano-decked ballad is an anthemic number titled “Your Song Saved My Life.”

According to Rolling Stone magazine, the title of the new song is “inspired in part by Bono’s list of “60 Songs That Saved My Life” that the U2 frontman wrote in 2020 to mark his 60th birthday.”

The song is slated to play at the end credits of the Garth Jennings-directed movie. “It’s just full of so much emotion and heart, the director said, adding, “it’s just full of so much emotion and heart. It just says ‘ok, here’s how we want your audience to feel as they leave the cinema.”

The movie will also feature other U2 classics such as “Stuck In A Moment You Can’t Get Out Of,” “Where The Streets Have No Name” as sung by the film’s cast that includes Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson, Taron Egerton and Nick Kroll. Johansson and Bono will sing the duet on “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” that will appear on the official soundtrack album that is set to be released on December 17. Pop music artists Halsey and Pharell Williams are also part of the cast who will voice the animal characters in the movie.

“Your Song Saved My Life” is the first music from the band after their last album “Song of Experience” and outside of the collaborations they did with other artists.
