Bren survives Todak in nail-biting lower bracket action, faces Alter Ego anew

The Filipino dream in the M2 Mobile Legends: Bang Bang World Championship remained alive as Bren Esports pulled off a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Malaysia's Todak on Saturday at the Shangri-La Hotel Singapore. 

MPL Philippines champion Bren bounced back from a sorry loss in the series opener as the notorious "Tzy Brothers" of Charles "FlapTzy" Canon and Karl "KarlTzy" Nepomuceno took charge in the crucial games. 

Bren remained the lone Filipino hope to get the world title of Moonton's popular mobile MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) game that comes with the $140,000 (more than P6.7 million) champion's prize after Smart Omega bowed out with a loss to Alter Ego Esports of Indonesia earlier. 

The black and yellow squad of coach Francis "Duckeyyy" Glindro is slated to take on Alter Ego in a grudge rematch in the lower bracket semifinals following the upper bracket finals match between RRQ Hoshi and Burmese Ghouls later. 

Bren crushed AE, 2-0, in the group stage but the Indonesian runner-up and MPL Invitational winner has been on a furious run in the loser's bracket.  

After Todak's successful objective-based tactic in Game 1, Bren was able to equalize the series as "Tzy" brothers Charles "FlapTzy" Canon and Karl "KarlTzy" Nepomuceno bounced back big with their Yu Zhong and Claude, respectively. 

With FlapTzy and KarlTzy leading the charge, Bren decimated three Todak heroes to open up the midlane in the ninth minute. 

A few moments later, another clash went in favor of Bren as KarlTzy unloaded a well-timed Blazing Duet before the black and yellow squad came through with an 18-5 triumph in Game 2. 

FlapTzy, with a Killing Spree talent, roared to a perfect record of eight kills and six assists while KarlTzy tallied two kills and 13 assists against a lone death. 

Riding the momentum from the previous game, Bren unleashed relentless aggression in the early game behind FlapTzy's Benedetta and KarlTzy's Harley. 

Veteran tank Allan "Lusty" Castromayor's Atlas also came through with multi-hero Fatal Links for the Filipino side to win the team fights. 

Bren built a 16-5 lead and a 7k gold advantage then took the Lord in the 10th minute before putting the final nail in the coffin for a 25-6 stomp in 12 minutes.
