Bren Esports came through with a vengeful 2-0 victory over Indonesia's Alter Ego Esports to grab an upper bracket spot in the M2 Mobile Legends: Bang Bang World Championship on Tuesday at the Shangri-La Hotel Singapore.

The reigning MPL Philippines champion showed its nerves of steel in the hard-fought opener against the Indonesian runner-up before wrapping up the series with a dominant win in the second game.

It was a sweet revenge for Bren's demoralizing defeat to Alter Ego in the grand finals of the ONE Esports MPL Invitational last month. Bren also dealt AE its first game loss since its perfect run in the MPLI.

The black and yellow squad went on a flawless campaign in the "Group of Death" with a 2-0 stomp over Japan's 10S Gaming Frost in its M2 debut earlier where Karl "KarlTzy" Nepomuceno's Lancelot recorded the first savage in the world tournament

Coach Francis "Duckeyy" Glindro's Bren joined fellow PH representative Smart Omega in the upper bracket playoffs which will start on Friday, January 22.

Sparks flew right in the opener as Bren seized the upperhand for most of the game but AE managed to hold on until the late game.

David Charles "FlapTzy" Canon's Benedetta got a crucial pick-off on Eldin Rahadian "Celiboy" Putra's Ling, allowing KarlTzy's Claude to take the Luminous Lord and close out Game 1 with a 22-15 scoreline in 23 minutes.

Veteran tank Allan "Lusty" Castromayor's Chou was also pivotal in the win as he was able to set up early pickoffs and disrupt AE in team fights.

Captain-mage/support Angelo "Pheww" Arcangel fueled Bren's aggression in Game 2, with his sneaky Abyssal Arrows setting up kills for KarlTzy's Yi Sun-shin and CJ "Ribo" Ribo's Pharsa.

Bren never looked behind from there and went on to sweep AE's base en route to an 18-6 triumph in 15 minutes.
