New Finds: This ube macapuno pie brings our favorite local delicacies in one tasteful treat

What more could you ask for?

The Filipino cuisine has so many food combinations. Examples of those perfect pairings are the puto and dinuguan, champorado and tuyo, and kape and pandesal. The thing about these Filipino food combinations is that most of them are opposites. In fact, they have different taste profiles, but ultimately, provide a unique dining experience when eaten together.

Lately, one favorite combination is ube with macapuno. Unlike the things mentioned above, this sweet on sweet pairing is not totally contrasting, but that doesn't mean it can't serve the same satisfaction you can get from other local food combinations. That is what fast food giant Jollibee wants to highlight with its latest offering, Ube Macapuno Pie, "blending the sweet flavors of ube and coconut."

"With the new Ube Macapuno Pie, we wanted to offer two flavors that could definitely delight Filipinos looking for sweet fixes,” says Mari Aldecoa, Jollibee marketing director for complementary products. “We are happy to bring our fans this delicious take on ube and coconut.”

The Ube Macapuno Pie is now available in Luzon and costs P30 for solo order, P89 for three-piece, and P175 for six-piece Pies To-Go. People can also order it through Grabfood, Foodpanda, and Jollibee Delivery app and website. Customers in Visayas and Mindanao can expect to see the pies in Jollibee stores nearest to them by Feb. 8, 2020.
