A Chinese national and eight Filipinos were arrested for allegedly constructing a cell site for a telecommunications company in Malabon City even without a building permit.
Arrested were Hue Jidong, 54; Jockey Mediola, 44 - both civil engineers; Pablo Peralta, 49, steel man; Wilfredo Magtalas, 41, mason; Fredison Gagarin, 41; Sancho Villanueva, Jr., 44; Jomar Reyes, 21; and Raymond Bayan, 34; all laborers.
According to a police report, Engineer Daniel Cortez of the Malabon City Engineering Office led police and barangay officials in arresting the construction workers after they were caught building a cell site for Dito Telecommunity Corporation in Barangay Tinajeros, Malabon City around 11:45 a.m. on Monday.
Investigation showed that the Malabon city government has sent a violation notice to the said company twice after seeing that construction work for the cell site remain unhampered despite them not having a building permit.
The third violation notice sent to Dito Telecommunity Corporation was reportedly not acknowledged by the company.
The arrested workers are now under police custody and will be facing charges for violation of Section 301 of Presidential Decree 1096 or the National Building Code of the Philippines.
Investigation is ongoing.
