COA orders PhilPost to pay P47.2-M to Filmetrics Corp. for biometric data service

The Commission on Audit (COA) has ordered the Philippine Postal Corporation (PhilPost) to pay Filmetrics Corporation P47.2 million for the delivery and set up of the Biometric Data Service Facility (BDSF) in 2010.

The cause of fire at the Manila Central Post Office was attributed by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to a “sudden self-discharge of car battery (sulfation) resulting to thermal run-away” which caused a “sudden build-up of heat and pressure,” and eventually an explosion.
