Aquino family 'overwhelmed with gratitude' for PNoy commemorative stamp

The Aquino family is filled with gratitude following the launch of a commemorative stamp in honor of the late President Benigno Aquino III.

The stamp was formally unveiled by the Philippine Postal Corporation Monday, August 2, that coincided with the 40th day since Aquino's passing.

Aquino, who scored an arbitral win against China's excessive claims in the South China Sea, sealed a peace accord with Muslim separatists, and drove the country's economic growth, passed away on June 24. He served as the country's 15th president from 2010 to 2016.

In a video message during the stamp launch, Ballsy Aquino-Cruz expressed thanks to PHLpost for bestowing the "big, big honor" for their brother.

"My sisters and I were deeply touched and overwhelmed with gratitude for the honor bestowed not only on Noy but for all of us, his bosses," she said."The tremendous outpouring of love and all these expressions have given us great consolation,” she added.

Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar attended the launch of Aquino commemorative stamp and remembered his service to the nation. He said the administration continues to uphold the "democratic foundations of liberty, sovereignty, and justice" promoted by the former leader.

The stamps honoring Aquino can be bought for P480 per sheet or 40 pieces at the post office in Manila. PHLPost noted that the stamps serve as a fitting tribute to Aquino's leadership, public service, and contributions to the nation.
