DOJ Action Center in Cebu City for Region VII

The Department of Justice (DOJ) opened last Monday, Nov. 15, its Action Center (DOJAC) in Cebu City to provide legal assistance, perform mediation services, accept complaints, and assist the public in their concerns with other government offices.

“Just this year, DOJAC was also designated as the receiving office for the Task Force Against Corruption (TFAC) that was created pursuant to the President’s directive to the DOJ to investigate allegations of corruption in the entire government,” the DOJ said in a statement.

There are now three DOJACs in the country. The first two centers are in Region X in Cagayan de Oro City and in Region XI in Davao City. The two centers had served about 14,000 individuals. The DOJAC in Region VII is in Guadalupe, Cebu City.

“Consistent with the government’s thrust to bring the Department closer to the people, DOJAC aims to establish an office in every region nationwide,” the DOJ said.

It said the launching of DOJAC in Cebu City was attended by Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia, DOJ Assistant Secretary Margaret Castillo-Padilla, and Regional Prosecutor Fernando Gubalane.

The DOJAC was established on Feb. 28, 1985 as a Public Assistance Center and was renamed Public Assistance and Complaints Unit on May 3, 1989.

Under Department Order No. 204 issued on June 22, 1995, the complaint units are now known as DOJAC.
