Who knew Starbucks had its own mooncakes? I was as surprised as the next guy, or perhaps I have simply been out of the loop. Either way, curiosity got the better of me, and after trying the new Starbucks Mooncake Gift Set, I can say this much: These are actually very, very good.
For me, the standout is the Lava Cappuccino. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the coffee version wins me over, with its smooth molten cappuccino filling and delicate pastry. It brings a familiar Starbucks coffee note into a traditional Mid-Autumn Festival treat, and it works.
The limited-edition gift set is Starbucks Philippines' take on the mooncake tradition, with the brand positioning it around reunion, gratitude, and shared moments. Now available nationwide, the set is designed for sharing and contains six molten-centered mooncakes in two flavors.
There are four Lava Custard mooncakes, filled with a rich custard center and wrapped in a soft, delicate pastry. The other two are the Lava Cappuccino, filled with smooth molten cappuccino lava, with creamy coffee notes inside the handcrafted pastry. The gift set is priced at P2,295 and is available for a limited time only at Starbucks stores nationwide.

Starbucks also suggests completing the at-home festive ritual with its Starbucks Via Iced Coffee Blend, an existing product rather than a new release. The pairing makes sense, particularly for those who want to keep the coffee element going alongside the mooncakes.
The Via Iced Coffee Blend is described as well-balanced, refreshing and caramelly smooth, with intriguing cola and spice notes. It can be prepared in three easy steps and served straight, with milk, or with sweetener. It is priced at P375.
