THREE stranded fish cage caretakers were rescued in La Union. (PCG)
The Philippine Coast Guard rescued three stranded fish cage caretakers in the sea of Barangay Damortis, Rosario, La Union on Saturday, Aug. 8.
The Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Santo Tomas received a distress report from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) at around 6:40 p.m. and immediately activated its Deployable Response Group (DRG).
With assistance from local fishing boat operators, rescuers located the stranded caretakers at around 7:50 p.m.
They were identified as Carlos Cañete, 48; Norly Fernandez, 42; and Olves Morano, 26.
They were taken to Barangay Tubod, Santo Tomas, before they were dropped off their homes in Barangay Damortis.
