‎Comelec bares 108 areas of concern in BARMM polls

‎ZAMBOANGA CITY - The Commission on Elections bared 108 areas of concern in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao elections on Sept. 14.

Frances Alonzo, acting chief of the Comelec Social Media Division, reported that Lanao del Sur province has the highest number of red zones at 21 followed by Maguindanao del Sur with 11 orange zones.

‎Maguindanao del Norte and Basilan have low- to high-risk areas while Tawi-Tawi remains relatively secure and stable.

‎The Comelec categorized areas to make election personnel, voters, and other stakeholders aware of the security situation in the region.

‎These are: Red, high threat zones marked by severe risks and previous violent incidents which may trigger election oversight; Orange, areas confronted by heavy armed security challenges; Yellow, zones bearing a documented history of poll disturbance; and Green, secure localities with absence of security threats.
