‎2 Grade 7 students in fistfight undergo intervention

CEBU CITY – Two Grade 7 students will undergo an intervention program after they figured in a fistfight near a parish church here on July 29.

‎Police Lt. Col. Franco Rodulf Oriol, deputy city director for administration of the Cebu City Police Office, said the fistfight that has gone viral on social media involved students of the Talamban National High School.
‎
‎Oriol said the Talamban Police Station initiated a case conference on Monday, Aug. 3, to look into the incident.
‎
‎Present during the case conference were the students, parents, guidance counselor, class adviser, the barangay Gender and Development focal persons, and barangay tanods.
‎
‎During the conference, it was agreed that the two students will undergo a diversion program under the supervision of the Department of Social Welfare and Services.
‎
‎Oriol said the medical expenses for the student who was badly beaten during the scuffle was also settled.
‎
‎Oriol said the CCPO will continue its regular activities in barangays as part of an effort to ensure safety in schools.
‎
‎“We also have this effort to visit public and private schools, conduct symposiums, dialogues between teachers, parents, and students to avoid violence in schools,” said Oriol.
