CEBU CITY – Five individuals received cash incentives under the “Operation: Private Eye” (OPE) program of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
A total of P769,982.86 were awarded to the recipients, whose information provided to authorities led to successful anti-illegal drug operations in the Visayas.
PDEA Director General Undersecretary Isagani Nerez led the awarding of cash rewards when the PDEA-Central Visayas destroyed more than P600-million seized illegal drugs at the Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes here on
Tuesday, July 28.
The PDEA-7 withheld the real names of the recipients for security reasons.
“Asete” received P270,188.25 for his role in the seizure of 2,920.96 grams of shabu in Barangay Tipolo, Mandaue City last July 11, 2025.
“Loloy” received P246,848.65 for the confiscation of 2,370.4493 grams of shabu in Barangay Guindapunan, Palo, Leyte last Nov. 14, 2025.
The PDEA awarded P128,502.55 to “Baran” after an operation in Barangay Mantuyong, Mandaue led the seizure of 1,462.54 grams of shabu last March 4, 2025.
Two other informants received P63,329.42 and P61,113.99 after the seizure of 504.1888 grams of shabu and 511.2411 grams of shabu in Barangay Sonog, San Franciso, Cebu and Barangay Pung-ol Sibugay, Cebu City last Aug. 21, 2025 and Aug. 30, 2025, respectively.
“To our Operation: Private Eye awardees, thank you. Your willingness to report illegal drug activities reminds us that protecting our communities is not the responsibility of PDEA alone,” Nerez said.
Nerez emphasized that the fight against illegal drugs requires the participation of the community. “Your vigilance has helped save lives, and make our communities safer,” Nerez added.
OPE is an incentive-based program that rewards individuals who provide information resulting in the successful confiscation of dangerous drugs and the arrest of persons violating Republic Act No. 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
