PAGASA: Easterlies to bring isolated rain showers, thunderstorms across Metro Manila, rest of PH
The easterlies continue to affect the country on Sunday, March 1, bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the Philippines.
In its latest weather forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the prevailing easterlies — warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean — are influencing the country’s current weather pattern.
While much of the day may remain generally fair, PAGASA said localized thunderstorms are expected, particularly in the afternoon or evening.
For Metro Manila and the rest of the country, PAGASA said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are expected.
Although the easterlies typically bring warm and humid conditions, the buildup of clouds in the afternoon can trigger thunderstorms. These weather disturbances may result in localized flash floods in affected areas, landslides in elevated or mountainous regions, brief but intense rainfall, and occasional strong winds and lightning.
PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
Apart from isolated thunderstorms, PAGASA said generally warm temperatures are expected to persist due to the continued influence of the easterlies.
