3 'Hell's Angels' members from New Zealand barred entry to PH -- BI
Three members of the biker gang “Hell’s Angels” from New Zealand were barred from entering the Philippines, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Thursday, Feb. 12.
BI Commissioner Joel Anthony M. Viado identified the three New Zealanders as Alexander Michael Schmalkuchen, Stanley Savinata Sunguturanga, and Ethan Schipper.
Viado said Schmalkuchen and Sunguturanga arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal from China last Feb. 7 but were intercepted by immigration officers.
Schipper, on the other hand, was intercepted at NAIA last Feb. 9 after his arrival from China.
The BI said the three foreigners were barred from entering the Philippines after being flagged by the system of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).
It also said that “confirmation showed that all three foreigners were subjects of a Diffusion Notice involving a criminal organization.”
“Further checks revealed that the trio have multiple prior convictions in various countries and are identified as members of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club (HAMC), an outlaw motorcycle gang monitored internationally for alleged involvement in organized criminal activities,” it added.
They were denied entry under the Philippine Immigration Act which bars the admission of foreign nationals whose presence is deemed contrary to public safety and national security, the BI said.
“In line with President Marcos’ directive to strengthen border security and intensify the campaign against transnational crime, the Bureau remains relentless in protecting our ports of entry from high-risk individuals,” Viado said.
