A Russian vlogger, who was arrested last April for his pranks against Filipinos that turned into viral videos in social media, has been turned over to the custody of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Monday, June 16.
Since his arrest, Russian Youtuber Vitaly Zdorovetskiy has been detained at the BI’s facility. He is facing multiple charges in the country.
Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado assured that foreigners who violate laws will be held accountable and will be continuously detained until the resolution of the cases filed against them.
Prior to Zdorovetskiy’s transfer to BJMP custody, Viado said the BI turned down the Russian’s appeal for temporary release despite his assurance that he will not evade deportation and will stay within the National Capital Region.
Viado declared: “The Bureau is resolute: we will not allow our deportation process to be undermined by publicity tactics or legal maneuverings.”
