MOVIEGOER: Dennis Trillo channels Joan Crawford
A revelation made by Dennis Trillo during a recent media event brought me back to 1981, when I first saw the Hollywood film "Mommie Dearest."
The biographical film told the story of 1940s glamorous yet lonely star Joan Crawford (played by Faye Dunaway) who adopts two orphans, a boy and a girl, who, as they grew older, accused the actress of being abusive and controlling.
The film opened with a bathroom scene in the morning, where Joan washed her face with ice-cold water, using ice cubes, presumably to close her pores.
That was precisely what Dennis shared with the media when the topic of his beauty regimen arose. He said that one of them washes his face with cold water and ice cubes first thing in the morning.
The talk that afternoon of May 8 at Solaire North inevitably touched on skin care and beauty secrets as Ms. Rhea Anicoche Tan introduced Dennis as the first male ambassador of Belle Dolls' sunscreen, Zero Filter.
Dennis gamely exposed himself and so much more at the Beautederm event where he said he didn’t mind it one bit that he was endorsing something as feminine-sounding as Belle Dolls. Nothing, it seems, can now stifle the veteran actor who is also seen on Tiktok creating all those gender- bending dance moves together with his wife, Jennylyn Mercado.
The Tiktok videos prove his versatility dancing to the latest choreographed steps in a manner that could even be misconstrued as expository gaiety. Yet, the man is too confident of his own skin that he lets it all hang loose and free from all inhibitions.
The award-winning actor made no bones about endorsing a beauty product.
“I have no qualms about being a beauty product endorser,” he said.
“I’ve realized rather lately that even men should take care of their skin, not just women.”
Confessing that he’s rather new in the beauty-secrets game, Dennis shared that his wife taught him how to care for his skin and overall appearance.
“Before, I never really cared about taking care of my skin. I bike and hit the outdoors, not mindful of how the sun could affect my skin, but Jenn has inspired me to be more mindful,” he said.
