Parañaque distributes doxycycline to flood-affected residents

The Parañaque City government intensified its health response on Saturday, Aug. 29, as it continued distributing doxycycline to residents in flood-affected areas and evacuation centers.
Mayor Edwin Olivarez ordered the continued deployment of Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) to various communities and evacuation sites to assist residents and facilitate the distribution of doxycycline.
The city government said its health centers in all 16 barangays also remained open to accommodate residents who need the medication.
The continued distribution is part of the city’s efforts to protect residents who may have been exposed to contaminated floodwaters, particularly those in areas affected by flooding.
Residents were reminded to avoid wading through floodwaters whenever possible, as exposure may increase the risk of contracting illnesses.
Olivarez urged residents to prioritize their safety, observe health precautions, and follow advisories issued by city authorities as rains and flooding continue.
The city government also encouraged residents who have concerns about their health after exposure to floodwaters to seek assistance from the nearest barangay health center.
